Summer Tour (RSVP Required) : Capitol Woodworking Tour

Want to see the carved wood panels in the Iowa Supreme Court chambers up close? 

Ever wondered how to paint wood to look like marble? 

Curious about the different woods used in the construction of the Capitol?

If so, join us for a Historic tour of architectural woodwork and restoration painting at the Capitol led by Zachary Bunkers, Head of Restoration Painting at the Iowa Capitol.

The Capitol tour is free. Lunch is optional and you'll need to buy your own. 
(lunch is not being provided by DMWA)

After the tour, optional lunch at Zombie Burger + Drink Lab (opens at 11 AM) : 

300 East Grand Avenue, Des Moines (a few blocks west of the Capitol). 

To park at Zombie Burger, you can use metered parking on the street or the city parking garage one block west of the restaurant on Grand.

Parking at the Capitol: 

The parking garage at Pennsylvania and Grand has free visitor parking. The green lots are available for visitor parking (see Lot 6,7,15). You may find on street parking spots as well.

When you arrive at the Capitol, enter on ground floor from south or west side of building.  Gather at the crossing area on the cafeteria floor (Same floor as visitor entrance and security check-in).
