2023 spring class 1

In this class, we’ll be building a splay-leg shaker side table. This table, while of basic design, offers great woodworking and the ability to combine power tools and hand tools. In the class we’ll focus on prepping parts by hand (time permitting), Mortise and Tenon, and drawbore joinery.

This class meets for 2 weeks with a week off in between, on March 4 and 18.

2023 spring class 1

The table saw simplifies ripping, crosscutting, cutting bevels, and more, but it demands respect. See how to set up any table saw for peak performance, then learn how to safely rip a board down its length, use the miter gauge to crosscut to length and make angled cuts, and how basic jigs make operations easier, more accurate, and safer.

2023 spring class 1

Small compact routers offer lightweight and plenty of power for a lot of woodworking tasks. They also are great in a router designed for them. This design from ShopNotes magazine is Phil Huber's favorite. Over a three-part class, you have the chance to make your own. We'll cover case construction, cutting joinery, making drop-down tables, and a great fence. In order to complete the table in a timely manner, some out of class homework may be necessary. This class is a good way to upgrade your shop and learn skills along the way. Complete plans, a materials list, and suggested tools will be emailed to students after registering.

This class meets for 3 weeks: May 6, 13, and 20.
