December - Meeting

Greetings to you! I hope this cold weather has enabled you to spend a lot of enjoyable time in your shop. The 2018 DMWW Holiday Social is scheduled for December 11, 2018 and the doors will open @ 6:00 pm at the Woodsmith Store. We will have a potluck dessert buffet (but no meal as in years’ past) along with hot spiced cider and coffee. Drinks are provided by the club – desserts are brought by the members, so bring your favorite holiday treat to share with others. Spouses are welcome!

Chuck Haas, DMWW Club President, will present the “Year in Review” beginning @ 6:15 and when finished, the food table will be open for you to satisfy your holiday sweet tooth. As part of the “Year in Review”, your Holiday Social Committee would like to have photos of your projects in 2018.

The program will be an expanded “Show and Tell”, where we are asking members to take pictures of their projects and e-mail these to Jodi Alberts This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Jodi is preparing a repeating visual display that will play throughout the duration of the party. We would like you to write a brief description of your project(s) that can accompany the pictures in “storyboard” fashion. Please identify yourself as the creator of the project and relate what kind(s) of wood were used and any other interesting facts about the work. You can bring your project on 12/11 if you want, but don’t forget to send your picture and story write up as well. We want to make sure your work is displayed in the slide show we’ll present during our social time

Club members who contribute to Show and Tell will be eligible for door prizes that will be awarded later in the evening. ONLY THOSE WHO PARTICIPATE IN THE EXHIBIT ARE INCLUDED AS POTENTIAL DOOR PRIZE WINNERS. Hopefully, this will motivate you to share your work! The deadline for pictures and write-up’s is Saturday, 12/8 if sent by email (preferred) or Wednesday, 12/5 is sent using USPS (see address below).

Our club also has a tradition of collecting donations to the Urbandale Food Pantry at the Christmas Party. Please make your contributions in the form of checks or cash, since these are more useful than actual food donations. A surprising number of families in our area are struggling to “make ends meet” and our generosity at this time of year has always made a real difference in our community.

In preparation for the party, I would encourage you to snap pictures of your projects and write a brief description to accompany them and e-mail them to Jodi This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. We will hope for favorable weather and look forwar to a good time.

If you are NOT emailing your project information, please send picture(s) and write-up to: - DMWW Holiday Social C/O Greg & Jodi Alberts 2021 69th Street Windsor Heights, IA 50324-5810

If you want your photos returned, please makesure you include that information in your mailing
